Schooldays Time Essay According to a popular saying,schooldays are the happiest days of your life. Is there any truth in this? Answers to this question are bound to vary greatly from person to person. A person’s answer will depend on how happy the person’s schooldays actually were and on how happy the rest of his or her life has been since. To give a really true answer to this question you have to be fairly close to the end of your life. Hopefully,by this time you will have lived a long time. If this is the case,then you will have a long period of time to look back on.Will no other period of your life have made you happier than your schooldays? This seems rather unlikely. There are certain momentous times in a person’s life which are usually accompained by a great feeling of happiness,even of ecstasy. One of these is being in love. Another is a person’s wedding day. Yet another, and many parents would put this at the top of their happiness list, is the birth of a couple’s child. These are milestones in human life and they bring happinessto the majority of people who experience them. However, apart from these emotional milestones, there is a wide variation in what makes people happy. To a large extent what brings happiness to a person depends on what they are interested in. For example, athletes might well regard their period of supreme happiness as the time they won a major track or field event, especially an Olympic event. Footballers might regard the peak of their happiness as the time they played for a top-ranking team and scored a crucial goal in an important game. Ambitious businesspeople might be at the hightest point of their happiness when they bring off a particulary successful and shrewd business deal. If there are all these opportunities, and many more, for achieving happiness in life, how has the idea arise that schooldays are the happiest days of our life? It is at least partly because people’s memories, particularly older people’s memories, tend to be imperfect when they look back on the past. Not only that.Especially where childhood is concerned, older people tend to look back at past through rose-coloured spectacles. For example, they might remember the weather during the summer holidays as being much better than it is now. That has nothing whatsoever to do with modern climate change. It has to do with looking back on the past with affection and nostalagia-and a lack of realism. A few people’s schooldays might genuinely have been the happiest days of their lives. On the other hand, some people’s schooldays might have been an absolute nightmare with stern schoolteachers administering harsh punishments and fellow students teasing and bullying them, not to mention the often unbearable pressure of exams. For most people,neither of these extremes fits the bill.Their schooldays are the usual mixture of happiness and unhappiness,like the rest of their lives.Schooldays are not the happiest days of their lives.

Analysis Of A Hotel Management System This is software which has mainly made for management of a Hotel. The software has been designed with front-end as VB and backend as Oracle. The project Hotel Management manages maintains the records of customers and room in the hotel. The rooms have different categories. So there charges and records will be maintained accordingly. This software has been made in a user friendly interface, so that normal persons can add, delete the entries of customers and handle all the transactions easily. SYSTEM ANALYSIS The initial analysis is made by knowing the user requirements. In analysis phase, we have analyzed the users requirement such as:- Addition of the record of the customer who comes into the hotel ,deletion of the record when customer leaves the hotel, printing and calculation of the bill ,record of facilities available in the hotel ,allotment of the rooms etc. In this project we have also analyzed that the product or software should not be very costly but its quality and interface must be attractive. If any wrong operation is being performed then the software must invoke the operator accordingly. FEASIBILITY STUDY A feasibility study is carried out to select the best system that must performance requirement and its working ability in an organization. The feasibility of the system has been done in three types:- -Technical Feasibility Study -Economical Feasibility Study -Behavioral Feasibility Study TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY Technically we have made feasibility in keeping mind about the hardware so that the designed software can work smoothly with maximum efficiency with the hardware. ECONOMICAL FEASIBILITY In this we mainly calculate the cost of proposed system and the cost of customer and compare the cost to meet the users cost. The cost of hardware, facility cost, operating and supply costs are considered. The cost of feasibility is also considered on this such as wiring, lightning, A.C. etc. BEHAVIOURAL FEASIBILITY We have to consider the cost of staff which has special efforts to educate, sell train on new ways. SOFTWARE HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS There are some software and hardware requirements of the software hotel management system. SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS -Visual Basic.net as frontend -Oracle Database as backend -Windows 7 home Premium HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS -Pentium- 4 processor -40 more GB for data storage -128 to 512 KB RAM -Printer for reporting and printing IMPLEMENTATION To implement this project, HOTEL MANAGEMENT will require a visual basic as front end Oracle Database as back end. SYSTEM DESIGN In this software we have developed some forms. The brief description about them is as follow:- MDI FORM This is the main form. It contains following fields:- Hotel Customer Reservation Room Room Category Search On moving the cursor to any of the above fields, drop down menus will be displayed user can click on any of the options available in them and their respective forms will open. Hotel The main purpose of this form is to add a new hotel to the database. For this purpose, the user will be required to fill the Hotel id, Hotel Name and their address. After filling all the entries, when we click on the on the save button, the record will be added to the database. Customer In this form, user can add a new customer to the records. For this purpose, the user will be required to fill the customer id, name of the occupants, their address. After filling all the entries, when we click on the Submit button, the record will be added to the database. Reservation This is the reservation form where the user inputs customers reservation details, for example: Reservation Id, Customer Id, Hotel Id, Reservation date, Arrival dates and so on. The user can select the type of rooms by inputting the room category id from the list box. The charges per day of this room are displayed in the list itself. After filling all the entries, when the user click save button, the records will be added to the database. After filling all the entries, when the user click search button, the user will be able to view the types of room by their room details. Room Category This is the room category form where the user inputs details in the room categories in the hotel by the room details like category id, category name and number of beds. After filling all the entries, when the user click save button, the user will be able to view the types of room by their room details Search This form search all the database according the input of the user, If the input is found in the database, then message box input found and the result will be displayed, In the other hand, if the user inputs incorrect input, a msg box displays input not found please try again. And no result will be displayed. ENTITY RELATIONSHIP DIAGRAM (ERD) Entity-Relationship Diagram This depicts relationship between data objects. The attribute of each data objects noted in the entity- relationship diagram can be described using a data object description. Data flow diagram serves two purposes: -To provide an induction of how data are transformed as they move through the system. -To depict the functions that transformation the data flow. Data Objects A data object is a representation of almost any composite information that must be understood by the software. By composite information, we mean something that has a number of different properties or attributes. A data object encapsulates data only there is no reference within a data object to operations that act on the data. Attributes: Attributes define the properties of a data object and take on one of three different characteristics. They can be used to; -Name an instance of data object. -Describe the instance -Make reference to another instance in other table. Relationship Data objects are connected to one another in a variety of different ways. We can define a set of object relationship pairs that define the relevant relationships. In this designing system, I have used an ER Diagrams; overall this project teaches us the essential skill like; -Understanding the Oracle database handling and query processing. -Using system analysis and design techniques like ER diagram and Data modeling in designing the system.

Jonsons To the Memory of My Beloved, The Author, Mr. William Shakespe

Jonson's "To the Memory of My Beloved, The Author, Mr. William Shakespeare, and What He Hath Left Us" Zeus, Apollo, Hermes, Shakespeare. Not often is the Bard included in a list of mythological gods. In fact, he is rarely thought of in connection with Greek and Roman mythology at all. Today, Shakespeare is hailed as one of the great playwrights of the English language, and is perhaps the most prominent, most studied of the English playwrights. But this was not the case in 1623, when Ben Jonson wrote his poem, â€Å"To the Memory of My Beloved, The Author, Mr. William Shakespeare, and What He Hath Left Us.† Shakespeare died in 1616, and despite his popularity as a playwright of his day, he was hardly a household name, and had certainly not achieved the position of admiration which he holds today. Jonson’s poem is one of the first attempts to take Shakespeare beyond merely a popular playwright. His respect and esteem for the Bard is made plain in the poem, but Jonson has written much more than just a eulogy for his deceased friend. Through the style of his poem, and the various comparisons and the images used, Jonson attempts to immortalize Shakespeare, mythologizing him and bestowing upon him a god-like status. Jonson was obviously close friends with Shakespeare. He had so much respect for Shakespeare’s talent that he feels grossly inadequate in praising him, and he states that â€Å"no man or muse can praise [Shakespeare] too much† (l. 4). Praise is clearly the purpose of this poem, however, and despite his professed inadequacy, Jonson intends to try his hand at extolling the great writer and giving him the recognition which he says all men can agree that Shakespeare deserves. He doesn’t mean to do this in... ... Contrary to some opinions, Jonson feels Shakespeare’s talent is remarkable, so remarkable that it deserves to be remembered on the highest level possible, that of the gods. Shakespeare’s flight and immortalization as a constellation is somewhat bittersweet, for although it awards Shakespeare the recognition Jonson feels he deserves, Jonson laments the absence of Shakespeare’s inspiring talent, saying â€Å"since thy flight from hence, hath mourned like night, / And despairs the day but for thy volume’s light† (l. 79-80). Jonson recognizes agelessness in Shakespeare’s writings that he feels is on the same level as the Greek and Roman myths which have lasted for centuries. It is on this recognition that he bases his argument for Shakespeare’s status as a god. Jonson sums up this argument in line 43 of his poem. Shakespeare is â€Å"not of an age, but for all time†.

Contributors to the Evolution of American Higher Education System

The evolution of Higher Educational System the United States can be attributed from several components. Among these attributes are the 1944 GI Bill of Rights and the appointment of the President's Commission on Higher Education by President Truman in 1946. Such significant contributions not only greatly affected the American Education System during those times but also served as catalysts that continue to benefit the modern society. These also paved the way improvement, acceleration and the widening the system of education as well as has opened opportunities for Americans of past, present and future generations.The significant development of the American higher education system can be traced from the enactment by President Franklin Roosevelt on June 22, 1944 of the â€Å"GI Bill of Rights† which was also called as the â€Å"Servicemen's Readjustment Act of 1944† (cited in Greenberg, 2007, p. 47). The law changed the American economic and social standpoints since among i ts provisions provided veterans of World War II an easy and immediate financial assistance by means of unemployment insurance.Most importantly, the law gave American veterans big opportunities such as vocational and practical activities relating to college learning as well as free access to housing and business loans (Greenberg, 2007). One of the permanent legacies of the GI Bill of Rights is now the ordinary impression that anyone can and should have education irrespective of â€Å"age, sex, race, religion, or family status† (Greenberg, 2007, p. 49). The law was also noted for bringing back the veterans' interest in education, majority of who have not achieved even secondary diplomas because of the World War II.With the provision of a better quality of higher education which the veterans have longed for, the law provided a broad and lasting acceptance of the notion that learning, particularly post-secondary or college education is the Americans' pathway to an improved employ ment and life (Greenberg, 2007). Aside from providing Americans from all walks of life a practical access to higher education, the GI Bill of Rights has also altered the definition of college learning in public awareness starting from 1950s until today.Before the war, the system was characterized mostly by â€Å"private, liberal arts, small-college, rural, residential, elitist, and often discriminatory from institution to institution with respect to race and religion† (Greenberg, 2007, p. 50). However, the current higher education system now is noticeably public that centers on â€Å"occupational, technical, and scientific education, huge, urban-oriented, suitable for commuter attendance, and highly democratic† (Greenberg, 2007, p. 50).At present, the system focuses and offers quality cultural, learning and financial aspects of higher education instead of just authorization of the upper members of the society. Lastly, the law is best noted as one factor that led to tre mendous social change. Since there was shake up of perspectives as regards â€Å"sex, religion, and race,† the law subjected even the ordinary Americans to liberated ideas of the society by means of higher education (Greeberg, 2007, p. 51). Meanwhile, a lot of veterans returned to college or post-secondary education in 1946.The heavy influx of students and industrialization of the economy, however, overstressed the system, curriculum and facilities. Additionally, the increasing number of war veterans studying again aggravated the existing educational problems being experienced by regular college students. This is because the group of veterans has to struggle it out with the American youth in their pursuit of a quality higher education. Hence, both the two groups increased the demands of college education.However, government assets and means of instrument are unable to adapt with the requirements such as an increased enrollees as well as variety of needs and involvements of bo th the veterans and youth as college students (Alexander, 1998). With the above situation in 1946, President Truman established a â€Å"President's Commission on Higher Education† and said that â€Å"we should now reexamine our system of higher education in terms of its objectives, methods, and facilities; and in the light of the social role it has to play† (President's Commission on Higher Education, 1947).The committee was composed of 28 prominent and outstanding Americans such as professionals and laymen like George F. Zook. The group immediately worked and in December of 1947, made a 377-page report titled â€Å"Higher Education for American Democracy† which was composed of six volumes under the following titles: â€Å"Establishing the Goals, Equalizing and Expanding Individual Opportunity, Organizing Higher Education, Staffing Higher Education, Financing Higher Education and Resource Data† (President's Commission on Higher Education, 1947, pp.1-3, 5- 8, 25-29, 32-39, 47-49). With a task to carry out what President Truman has said and define the obligations of colleges and universities, the commissions worked it out with the said educational facilities but were initially unsatisfied with the results. This is because education experts noted an apprehensive sense of failure or defect in the system. They also felt that the facilities are unable to keep up with the pace of the ever-changing state of the system as the society.Additionally, they see a need to re-pattern everything in order to meet the needs and address the concerns of the veterans and youth students which eventually will bring out the effectiveness of the modern education and system and society Moreover, the escalating desire of Americans to aspire for college education and critical necessity for such effective system became the determining factors for the need to improve the execution of the conventional tasks.This, in effect, eventually enabled the system, to assume the new challenge such the as re-entry in college of war veterans as the growing number of youth students, who are both motivated to improve their worth as a free and educated Americans (Alexander, 1998). The above-cited commission and measure are both significant as they greatly contributed on the evolution of the American Higher Education System. This is because the improved system of American higher education enabled the achievement of a more quality of living and democracy in the country for the reason that the benefits equally extended to all citizens.The GI Bill of Rights and 1947 President's Commission on Higher Education have proven their existence and worth because they paved the way for renouncing the unfair education practices of discrimination and separation. Moreover, the said two contributors have resulted in leaders' realization of the importance of quality and accessible college education system and equal opportunities in life. Ultimately, higher education system sho uld be targeted at weakening as well as getting rid of learning discrimination and eventually establishing attitude that will offer the system freely accessible to all Americans. Gummy Bear Lab Essay

Question- If the percent of the concentration of a solution varies, will the amount of water gained or lost vary in a linear fashion? Hypothesis- If the concentration of a solution varies, then the amount of water lost or gain will not vary in a linear fashion Prediction- I think that the amount of water lost will not vary in a linear fashion. I think the water will vary like one gummy bear would lose 4 grams while another would lose 6 grams while another would lose 3.56 grams. Just numbers all over the place. Experiment- 1. Materials needed: a. 5 gummy bears b. 5 beakers c. A scale d. Distilled water e. Salt f. A cover for each beaker g. A paper to put on the scale h. Tweezers The independent variable is the salt in the water. The dependent variable is whether the amount of water lost or gained in the gummy bears varies in a linear fashion. The constants are the type of gummy bear used in this experiment, the type of salt, the type of beaker, the type of scale, the cover, amount of water, and the amount of time the gummy bears have. The control is the beaker without the salt in it; Beaker A. Safety procedures  include washing your hands before and after the experiment. Day 1: Get 5 beakers and 5 gummy bears. Put a paper on the scale and find the weight of the gummy bears. Then put the gummy bears in each beaker and label the beakers A-E. Put 100 ml of water in each beaker. Pick a solution you want each beaker to have. For this experiment the solutions were: Beaker A- 0%; Beaker B- 5%; Beaker C- 10%; Beaker D- 15%, and Beaker E- 20%. So to put the solutions into the beaker, first take salt and find the weight of it. It you want a 5% solution; the salt’s weight has to be 5 grams or close to 5 grams. Do the same for the other beakers. Of course, Beaker A will have no salt in it because it doesn’t have a solution with salt. Cover each beaker with the same kind of cover and wait for 24 hours to see what happens. Day 2: Take the beakers out of the place they were in. Spill all the liquid out of all the beakers. Make sure to identify which gummy bear is which. It is best to do this one at a time. Take the gummy bear out of the beaker with tweezers. Put a paper on the scale and weigh each gummy bear. Record the weight. When you are done weighing each, throw the gummy bears and all waste away and wash your hands. Analysis: Observations were that all the gummy bears lost their pale yellow color and turned into a clear color. Some gummy bears had salt sticking to it. Another gummy bear lost its shape completely and it looked like glob. Some gummy bears looked like it gained weight and some looked like it lost weight. Errors were that a little bit of salt was added into the control group; Beaker A. Results from Alexis’s group were that all the gummy bears gained weight and Justin told me that all his gummy bear’s also gained weight although I don’t know what their solution were for each beaker or the difference from the final weight to the initial weight. Their results didn’t vary in a linear fashion. Mathematical calculations were to subtract the final weight of the gummy bear with the initial weight of the gummy bear. Conclusion The results of the experiment were that the water lost or gained didn’t vary in a linear fashion. It went from one number to another. Even though the amount of solute varied in a linear fashion, the differences did not. They vary at a nonlinear rate. These results matched the hypothesis and proved it correct. Errors that happened in this experiment were that some salt was added to the control group; Beaker A. This could have affected the dependent variable by gummy bear losing a little bit of weight because of the salt. The results from the other groups were that their results didn’t vary in a linear fashion. This is consistent with my results because the difference in grams also didn’t vary in a linear fashion. This means that my lab was done correctly. Other experiments that can be done are by taking a jar and filling it with water. Then secure the paper towel on the jar with a rubber band. Make a water filled chamber to put food coloring drops it in and see what happens. The paper towel is the cell membrane and the food coloring is the water molecules crossing the cell membrane. Another experiment is by filling two beakers of water, making them  ¾ full and labeling them. Then add salt to one beaker and mix it into the water until no more salt can dissolve. Put a carrot, celery, and 3 raisins in each beaker and see what happens in 24 hours.
